Increase Cooling Capacity while Lowering Demand and Energy Usage in Air Cooled Refrigeration and AC Systems using evaporative misting

One can save on cooling costs immediately during hot weather when temperatures are above 30°C

Mist Pre-Cooling system

The following benefits will become more apparent as your systems runs more efficiently:

  • Less energy consumption
  • Releasing of  less greenhouse gasses
  • Water savings
  • Cost saving as a result of less energy and water usage

Suitable for

  • commercial and industrial air-conditioning,
  •  refrigeration units
  •  HVAC units

During the hot weather months units are under constant pressure to circulate enough cool air to the area where it is needed. Put simply when air temperature increases, electricity consumption in air-conditioning units increases substantially and in addition to this process the cooling capacity of the air-conditioning unit decreases.

This increased load placed on the system results in

  • poor performance,
  • untimely shutdowns
  • compromised product quality
  • reduction of air-conditioning performance
  • increased electricity consumption
  • severe stress for mechanical parts, shortening the lifespan of the air-conditioning unit itself.
  • excessive loads on the condensing coil of the unit from extreme heat causes the eventual shut down of the air-conditioning unit.

By installing a Misting SA Pre-cooling system clients can look forward to

  • Outside air temperature into the unit is lowered by up to 12°C
  • Energy consumption drops, saving electricity and money as much as 30%
  • Increases the efficiency of air-conditioning unit as much as 30%
  • Reduces system downtime
  • Improves occupant comfort level
  • Substantially extends the life time of all A/C units
  • Environmental benefits – lower consumption kW reducing your carbon footprint

Installing our unique pre-cooling misting system you can reduce the temperature by up to 12° C, significantly improving the operating performance and efficiency of the air-conditioning units by as much as 30%.

How do we install a Misting SA Pre-Cooling system?

With the use of Misting SA’s   series of speciality mist nozzles placed in a line  in front of the condenser coils to pre-cool the intake air passing through the condenser coils  When connected to a high pressure misting system pump, water is forced through the specialty nozzles and atomizes the  droplets to as small as (5 microns)
Misting systems will produce billions of tiny droplets every second. If these droplets are introduced into an outdoor area, they quickly evaporate. This process of evaporation requires energy to be completed. The energy is taken from the air in the form of heat. The result is a temperature reduction of up to 12 degrees, depending on the ambient temperature and the relative humidity of the air. This method of temperature reduction is the most common use for all misting systems.
The cooler air passed across the condenser coil improves the heat transfer efficiency; the unit does not need the same amount of power to run

What components are needed for a misting system?

The required components for a misting system includes:
Misting SA High pressure tubing (Nylon, Stainless steel or Copper)
Misting SA misting nozzles
Misting SA misting spray body
Misting SA Filtration Housing and cartridge
Misting SA Pressure Switch
Misting SA Solenoid Valves (low and high pressure)
Misting SA Anti drip valve
Misting SA high pressure misting pumps (various flow rates)
Misting SA Humidity and temperature controllers * Optional
Misting SA ventilation equipment. * Optional
* Additional components (such as wall mounted fans, extractor fans, Humidity and Temperature controllers) may be required for custom designed solutions.

Pre-Cooling : Interesting Information
An independent study conducted by Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2009 found that "the application of water mist pre-cooling could increase the co-efficient performance by up to 30%”.
The researchers concluded that significant energy savings may be generated by "enhancing the heat transfer rate in condensers by using water mist to pre-cool ambient air temperature around the condenser coils”.
